Eye Care and a Healthy Response of Diabetes
Dr. Jay B. Stockman has announced the availability of a web site created to provide
information and resources to those who may be suffering from the degeneration of
eyesight due to complications from Diabetes.
New York September 19, 2006 - Each year as many as 24,000 people will lose their
eyesight in complications stemming from diabetes. Other patients may experience
diabetes related vision problems such as retinopathy. The concerns associated with
diabetes can be frightening, but treatment options are available. It is important to
see your doctor. Don't panic, people with Diabetes can live long, healthy, happy lives.
Up to 21% of people with type 2 diabetes have retinopathy when they are first
diagnosed with diabetes, and most will eventually develop some degree of
retinopathy.
In the United States, diabetes is responsible for 8% of legal blindness, making it
the leading cause of new cases of blindness in adults 20-74 years of age.
Glaucoma, cataract, and corneal disease are more common in people with diabetes and
contribute to the high rate of blindness. (Source: Diabetes.org)
Dr. Jay B. Stockman encourages answers to the following, "Do you find yourself going
to the bathroom more than usual? Are you unusually hungry or thirsty? Is fatigue a
normal, everyday feeling? Does spontaneous, blurred vision interfere with you daily
life? If this sounds like you, you may have Diabetes." Stockman further asserts,
"Diabetes effects over sixteen million Americans, and many people are unaware they
have it."
Dr. Stockman has provided a new website intended to assist web-based users in the
discovery of treatment programs, exercise plans and diet information to assist when
diagnosed with either type 1or type 2 diabetes.
The web site is located at http://visionupdate.net/.
